The 3rd Floor Lab, LLC is an interior design firm established in 2010 by Allston Lipscomb and Joseph Vescio to be a leader in interior design innovation.
Based in New York, The 3rd Floor Lab, LLC recognizes commitment to sustainable solutions in meeting the challenges of today’s ever evolving building environment. Our design process is a collaborative effort of The 3rd Floor Lab, LLC’s principals and a mutual dialogue with our clients, from project inception to final completion. We believe that when engaged intelligently, project obstacles such as site conditions, budgets, schedules, and building codes are all opportunities that can inspire the most innovative results. We provide a diverse range of services specifically customized to meet our clients’ expectations.
Working predominately in all five boroughs of New York City, The 3rd Floor Lab, LLC offers highly specialized skills in the architectural and interior design of:

• The renovation of single family homes, specifically historical row houses
• The renovation of multiple dwelling properties of three or more units

Design services provided by our firm fully comply with all applicable municipal building and zoning laws and regulations. As filing representatives with the NYC Department of Buildings, we provide expediting services for project approvals with the appropriate municipal agencies including, but not limited to, The NYC Department of Buildings, The Landmark’s Preservation Commission, and The NYC Housing and Preservation Department.

WHO WE ARE
Allston Lipscomb, originally from South Carolina, holds a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration degree from the University of South Carolina. While working in the real estate industry in Charleston and Columbia, SC, she specialized in acquiring, designing, and selling private residences. These experiences deepened her awareness and appreciation of interior design and in 2008 she graduated with honors from The New York School of Interior Design (NYSID). As well as working on her own projects, she has had the privilege to work closely with other Interior Designers and Architects since moving to the New York City area in 2006. She is currently an active member on the Interior Designers for Legislation in New York’s (IDLNY) Education Committee.
Joseph Vescio, a Toronto, Canada native is a classically trained artist having been commissioned for various commercial projects throughout his career. He remains a fixture in the world of fine art and has been featured in several publications including the Toronto Star as ‘The Next Big Designer To Look For’. He later pursued interior design at The New York School of Interior Design (NYSID) in New York City. Currently he is furthering his education in the field of architecture.
